It is a contagious disease causing redness, irritation and watering of the eyes. In Ayurveda, it is mentioned as 'Abhishyanda'.

Usage of Alum soaked water as Eye drops will relieve Conjunctivitis.

Juice of Indian gooseberry mixed with honey is useful in treating conjunctivitis.

Decoction prepared from coriander seeds (10gms) in 60ml of water is excellent eyewash in conjunctivitis.
